Pink (Elephant in the the League) Shirt

Pink ElephantUnfortunately this is no longer timely, but let's examine for a moment what occurred this past week.

It seems that the same guy who called Baxter out for possibly having the lowest point total ever in a Strictly Circus game (later to be proven only 9th lowest), proceeded to actually score the lowest point total ever: 33 points!

So, Chris, this week, you are wearing the virtual Pink Shirt. I know, I know. Poor Jared also scored a measly 33 points this week as well, but why kick a man when he's down? Besides it's clear that Sheik 'n' Bake are making moves to improve their situation. The Maple Shade didn't even pick up a player to fill an injury spot last week.

So, here's to you "Karma" Shade! You got what was coming (or wasn't coming) after calling out the Baxterminators.

All of this brings up a greater point. What statistical categories do we want to track for posterity. Highest/lowest score of all time. Most points/least points scored by an individual player. Any other suggestions?

In case you're wondering, the Record Book tracks a lot, but perhaps not over many years. So far, Strength of Schedule is one of the best automatically calculated stat.

OK, I can't believe I'm gonna defend a Braves fan, especially one who said such horrible (and clearly true) things about the Phils and their fans, but I'm gonna take the Pink Elephant-shaped bullet for Chris here.

I clearly am as deserving of this award as I am of the prestigious distinction that Chris bestowed upon himself in his posting earlier this week. That record for longest losing streak is only gonna get bigger and is gonna be mine for a long time. Ben, your desire to avoid exacerbating the pain and frustration that have characterized my experience in the league thus far, while touching, seems to have lead you to overlook the fact that Chris was not alone in failing to pick up a replacement for an injured player - Brian Westbrook was in my starting lineup last week although he wasn't in the Eagles.

As for "making moves to improve," I'll agree to the first two words of that statement but must take issue with its latter half. None of the moves I've made have paid off with a victory, and some have even made matters worse.

As a result of such baffling ineptitude at working the waiver wires and selecting the best potential lineups, I have decided that if (and most likely when) I lose this week, I will take the following actions. First, I will make no more changes to my roster (barring injury or bye week complications) for the rest of the season. Second, my starting lineup will be determined on a weekly basis by selecting players' names from a hat. The way I see it, actively trying to win hasn't worked, so not really trying to win can't make things any worse.

Jared. As always, you are too humble.

The one part you are wrong about is that I know for a fact that Chris was well aware of Javon Walker's status as injured and out and still failed to pick up any of the many receivers that were subsequently plucked from free agency this week.

Westbrook on the other hand was a must-play, as it was a game-time decision, he's always plays hurt, and if he did play would have guaranteed you a point total at least greater than the worst of all-time.

So, while you'd like to believe that you are on even footing, it was not the case. Chris is still most deserving of the pink shirt for the week.
