Congratulations to the Flaccos. His family looked ecstatic on TV. Nice to see the "small" school player go high.
Ravens were already my second favorite team. Now, they really really are my second favorite.
I still remember listening to the Navy / Delaware game while driving up from Baltimore on the Navy station, and the announcers said that they knew that Ravens scouts were in the stands to watch Flacco, who turned out to have the best game of his career. Turns out their director of college scouting went to see that one personally.

According to Dan Wetzel, the Ravens were winners for getting Flacco, but Flacco was a loser for a "lame" party. Read here. Seems like a comment from someone who has only surrounded himself with Division I and professional athletes. Apparently having an understated, family-oriented party isn't the way to win sports columnist affections, but not me.
Originally Flacco wasn't supposed to have any cameras in his home on draft day, and that made me proud for his humble nature. What didn't make me proud was to see him on television wearing a Reebok t-shirt and being completely camera-shy while on the phone. You can't have it both ways--either you're going to play the media's game, or you're gonna keep to yourself.
All that aside, how great will it be to be able to travel a few hours to see a Delaware QB in the pros? And you know they have to play him. Their options are limited. I hope he destroys the NFL competition.
Now the real question--who's gonna draft him this August? :-)
